[ It's so comfortable like this.. it's warm, Nam Soon's body against his own, and the warmth reminds him of the fact that he's very much tangible right now. He really is here, he really exists again.. they're together again.

They're together again, and they're sitting here with hot food in their laps. That's all they need for now, just a moment of quiet reconciliation with their circumstances like this. Calming down from everything that's happened, making things more normal again a little.. sure, there's the question of how much of it can be called "normal" when it involves kisses, but even that doesn't feel weird on an emotional level.

So.. he just wants to stay like this. Just a little bit more. Even if nothing can make up for the past few days, if he can get anything in return, at least give him that much. Nam Soon calming down means that his own heart calms down too, after all. ]

Aish.. of course it smells good. [ It's feigned annoyance, though, and much weaker than usually. His tone is soft, like a mumble between the two of them. Only meant for them. ]

I made them, after all.

[ One of the few things he can actually cook, let's be real with ourselves here. But he at least intended it to be tasty - Nam Soon deserves anything he can get at this point.

Even though his own food goes untouched for a moment.. he's trying to make sure the other eats first, okay. He's a motherhen even in the little things like this. ]

Aish.. I will.

[ At least he gives in easily after making that slight sound first. Mostly since he doesn't really want the other nagging him over it in return now. It makes things a little more normal again, it proves that Nam Soon is just fine even after his breakdown just now.. but even so, he doesn't want Nam Soon to have to overdo it right now either. Even though he hits the nail straight on the head when he mentions Heung Soo should worry about his body later, even though he really is worried what the hell this body has been up to while he couldn't do anything.. even so, he's still more worried about the other.

That's how things always go between the two of them, after all.

But after the short answer, he does pick up his chopsticks to slowly start putting some of the ramen into his own mouth as well, slowly chewing. He didn't feel too hungry, so that's at least a good sign that his body was being taken care of, but.. well, it still doesn't mean all that much.

He does try to put it out of his mind for now though, just like Nam Soon said. For now he just wants to fuss over the other a little and even more than that, enjoy the soft warmth that his company brings, the tingling sensation on his lips that remains even now.

They're alright. That's what is important. They're both here, they're alright.. even if weird stuff happens, in the end, they always turn out alright like this.

It's an important thought, and one that calms him more than anything as they quietly eat for a few moments before he finally speaks up again. ]

.. That day. [ He doesn't have to mention which, considering what just happened between the two of them.. it's a complete parallel, even if it's been so long - years upon years upon years. That day when Nam Soon's mother died, when Heung Soo had come back for him, when their friendship had been firmly cemented as something special, something even a little beyond the usual.

He pauses a moment, only the sound of the chopsticks clattering against the bowls audible. ]

When I transferred, I thought a lot had changed. [ It's why he was so angry, so frustrated with everything, so confused. Because the Nam Soon who looked at him with that broken look in his eyes wasn't the same Tsunami who left him behind at the hospital years prior to that. ] .. Now.. I guess that isn't really true.

[ Because they're right back where they started. Sure, with a little more, since Heung Soo would never have thought of actually kissing Nam Soon to try and calm him down back on that day when they were so much younger. But even so, it almost feels like rounding out the circle. ]

[ He'll at least concede on the fact that Nam Soon didn't change in the end. Heung Soo didn't realise it at first. Maybe since he had been too caught up in his good memories of their early teenage years together where they laughed and ran around and Nam Soon smiled all the time. Not always good smiles, necessarily, but he had been so happy - they both had been. So to see that all gone, to see an empty shell left behind that was pretending to be something he wasn't, without Heung Soo there.. it had distracted him from the fact entirely. He had been so mad that he didn't recognize that it was the same Nam Soon as always. The Nam Soon who cried on him about his mother and was unable to stop. The Nam Soon who he threw a blanket over when the guy passed out at this house again. The Nam Soon who yelled as he beat up some guys who didn't listen. The Nam Soon who sat at the window seat, his head dropped on the desk, sleeping.

All of them had been the same all along. He just never saw until they reconciled - and especially now.

But the other point.. that's not true. Even if there were things that Nam Soon should have done that he didn't, it's still not true. Sure, Heung Soo had wished that Nam Soon was there more than anything when he was stuck in that hospital and could do nothing but stare at the ceiling as his heart sunk further and further away in his chest. He should have been there then, and he should have been there when it was Heung Soo who had to stand at his mother's funeral, when there hadn't been anyone to come drag him back when he couldn't bear it anymore by the time everyone left. Sure, his sister had been there, but he knew that Noona had enough on her mind. It was her mother as well, after all, and since she was older, she had a lot more to do with the arranging part than Heung Soo himself. But there hadn't been a friend running back for him at the last moment to tell him that it was okay, that he was right there for him, that he wouldn't leave. Even now, that day feels like a void.

But to say that means Nam Soon did nothing for him.. that's not true. If Nam Soon didn't do anything for him, then why would he ever have missed his best friend so violently every single day, to a point where he couldn't help but keep beating up people himself in an attempt to feel even a little bit better?

It's since - since he needs Nam Soon too. Maybe not as much as Nam Soon needs him, maybe since there's less of a complex about it, but he does need his best friend. Without him everything feels like shit, and he doesn't even want to imagine being stuck here without him. ]

Who ever said that, you bastard?

[ He doesn't look at the other, instead just alternating between staring ahead of him and at his bowl, even as the chopsticks rest in his hand for a moment. ]

It's just enough that you're you. [ Because it's what makes Heung Soo the happiest. Just being with Nam Soon, messing around with him, taking care of him, or just sitting there quietly.. it's warm, it's happier than anything he was able to feel in those three years they were apart. Even now, when their friendship (if a word like that can still fit all of it in, even) has taken this turn with the kissing and all.. it still feels the same. It still is the thing that could make him the happiest. ] Don't think you need to do something big for me.

[ Because he doesn't need it. Other than the moments after the incident when he just really wished Nam Soon was there, there for him, right there with him.. other than that, there's never really anything he wanted from his best friend.

Other than to just be with him.

It's probably why his words are a little more quiet near the end. It's embarrassing, but he can't not say them right now either when Nam Soon is voicing thoughts like that. ]

[ It's not like Heung Soo is a whole lot better at this.

Sure, he's a little better. He's never been as broken as Nam Soon, although his ability to socially blend in with other people has also greatly decreased after the incident. He's rough now, and blunt, and looks scary.. but at least he can understand things a little better. Maybe not exactly everything inbetween them, those feelings are entirely new, but.. he's at least a little better at keeping track of himself than his best friend. Even when he, too, thinks this is embarrassing as hell. It's embarrassing as hell, but what else do you expect him to say? Is he just supposed to sit there and watch the person most important to him sit there and beat himself up and not do anything about it? There's no way a motherhen, a true fusser like Heung Soo could do that.

He knows fully well that Nam Soon isn't as good at it though. So he understands where that reply comes from, and why it's so unfitting for what he said. In some ways it's probably easier to bear than if Nam Soon would have said something on the same level, but there's no doubt the deflection stings a little, even if he knows Nam Soon isn't saying that he doesn't feel the same.

It's probably why he shoves a little bit of the food into his mouth again, like the chewing gives him an excuse to think for a moment or two more before he finally properly answers after swallowing. ]

Maybe I wouldn't have to be that way if you didn't sound like a total female lead.

[ And in the end, of course the one true response is to use Nam Soon's own words against him.. he's still a little careful with his teasing since the other's breakdown was so heavy, so he feels the safest insult is probably the same thing that Nam Soon is insulting him with to begin with.

Even in these tiny things, he's still pretty toughtful, despite appearances.. but it's just the way Heung Soo is. Especially when it comes to the single most important bastard in his life, without a doubt. ]

[ At least there's no way he'll fight Nam Soon on that point. Not even teasingly, since there's no way in hell he'd win.. he already has a scary face when compared to other normal faces, let alone flower boy faces. If anything, Nam Soon would be more like that.. if he actually bothered with his appearance, anyway. It's probably the case for both of them, maybe he could've been one of those annoying chaebol types if he pulled his hair back instead of just letting it do its thing.

... Even if the thought of that feels really annoying, for some reason.

So he doesn't say that. Instead, after thoughtfully chewing for a moment and swallowing, he replies: ]

Then it's good that this is reality.

[ The reality where embarrassing things happen, yes.. but also the reality where he can be this comfortable with Nam Soon, where they can help each other after difficult times. Where they can actually go ahead and do stuff like kiss and even though the idea of it is weird as hell, in practice it feels way too nice to even consider giving up that easily.

It's the reality where they are together.. and he wouldn't switch it for any sappy overly embarrassing kdrama life. ]

.. now eat. You're going to let it get cold.

[ Totally not trying to deflect things a little before Nam Soon mentions that's very kdrama-worthy too, what he said before.. he even bumps his own shoulder against the other's in return now, although it's more meant as an encouragement. He feels a little tired, too - and surely Nam Soon must feel the same after what he's been through, after not sleeping at all. Maybe they can just pass out somewhere together after finishing the food. ]

[ Honestly, Heung Soo's biggest relief about this situation comes with the fact that Nam Soon is alright. Even though he broke down just as much as he did on the day of the funeral, he's now just eating like usually, he's warmly leaning against him. He's pretty sure that it must still be weighing heavily on him (since it still weighs heavily on Heung Soo too that he wasn't able to do more all this time) but at least they're on the right track again now.

They'll work it out again together, somehow.. even if it's by crawling into the same bed after they're done eating and being soothed by each other's warmth and company.

They've always been better at doing these sort of things without words, after all.

It's why Heung Soo doesn't say anything. He knows he doesn't have to. Even though he finished his food more quickly since he was eating a little bit more before, he just leaves the bowl and the chopsticks in his lap for the moment, not moving a single inch from where he's sitting.

Nam Soon is leaning against him, after all, and needs the contact...

.. and honestly, Heung Soo needs it as well. ]

[ For once he doesn't really care to make a biting remark to that statement like they usually would have done. The mood is just too nice for it right now, and maybe he's starting to feel a little sleepy just by how content they are together like this after that outburst of emotion just now.

Instead he just lets out a half-amused sound at it, shaking his head a little. For a moment Heung Soo just sit there, since.. well, he doesn't really want to move all that much. He's just fine sitting here, just soaking up this feeling, since it's pretty rare. Especially in a place like this, where it seems like every time they manage to settle just a little bit, everything gets thrown upside down all over again.

But he knows that sitting here means probably falling asleep here too. And while they're no strangers to just sleeping on the ground, he thinks their bodies need something a little better than that after this kind of situation.

So he slowly stands up (after making sure it means Nam Soon won't just fall over without the support), grabbing both of their bowls. ]

.. go to bed. [ He even motions a little with the bowls, as if to get him going. Nam Soon's body is still weak, but hopefully he can at least drag himself over there.. ] I'll come in a moment.

[ Since he has to dump these in the sink first, but that's the only thing he plans on doing for now. Honest. He doesn't want to leave Nam Soon alone just as much as the other doesn't want to be left alone. To a point where he's even openly sounding a little like a parent about it, yes. Look how he's embarrassing himself for your sake.. ]
unathletic: (why tear this heart out)

[ Nam Soon won't have to wait for long. All Heung Soo does is put the stuff into the sink, and then he at least cleans it up a little bit.. who knows how long they'll be conked out after all this, anyway. Not that Heung Soo is so tired that he thinks he'll sleep that long, but.. well, something tells him that he won't really want to leave the other alone for a moment once he crawls into that bed, even when Nam Soon is asleep.

So once he's left things behind in a way that he deems satisfactory enough for now, he's already heading over to the bedroom as well, slipping out of his shoes instead and leaving those in the living room (he didn't exactly have a mind to take them off when he ran in frantically to look for Nam Soon, and he doesn't feel like properly putting them away and making the other wait more now).

He doesn't say a word when he enters the room though. Instead he just moves over to the bed, slipping in besides Nam Soon like it's natural. Let's face it, it might as well be by now - despite not having shared beds before they got into this place, he's gotten fairly used to it by now.

.. it's nice, anyway. Even if he's not the one who needs it the most by now and he knows it.

It's exactly because Heung Soo knows this much that he doesn't just lie down and go to sleep. Nam Soon's already close enough, since it's a little cramped like this, but.. well, after all the shit that's happened, a little more can't hurt. It's a little more like what he did all those years ago, when Nam Soon was just as much of a small child that needed to be comforted than he is now.

It's embarrassing as hell, sure, but part of his brain already feels a little tired and doesn't care. And it's not like anyone is going to see anyway.

Whatever.

Heung Soo wraps his arms around his bastard, pulling him closer so Nam Soon can bury his head against him.

He doesn't say anything else - what is there that has to be said? His actions can do it all for him. That he's here, that he cares for Nam Soon, and that there's no way in hell he's going to leave again if he has a say in it at all.

So just sleep, you bastard - he'll be here. ]
unathletic: (this is my true objective)

[personal profile] unathletic 2015-03-07 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Heung Soo doesn't fall asleep before Nam Soon does. He makes sure of that, lying there awake even when he notices the other closing his eyes. He just lies there, patiently waiting, as he can feel Nam Soon's heartbeat steady against his own, his breath evening now, becoming a little calmer..

Nam Soon is relaxing. It's natural when you sleep, but it shows that he's sleeping comfortably now.

It's a relief. After everything that happened, after the toll it took on them.. at least Heung Soo can be glad that his best friend can sleep like this again, even if it takes holding him like this. (Not like he minds, though, it's nice and warm and it's doing just as much to steady and relax him, although he doesn't admit it as easily.)

He watches Nam Soon for a few moments more, like he's trying to take in the other's peaceful sleeping features, but then he closes his own eyes as well, settling in as he softly drifts to sleep. ]
